Silver Strike Solution

A Silver Strike solution is always recommended prior to silver deposition to promote excellent adhesion and prolong the life of the main plating solution.

Bright Silver Altix®

Bright Silver Altix process produces light, bright, haze-free deposits.

Inclusion of an antimony brightener gives enhanced and controllable hardness over a wide range of deposit thicknesses.

The process is ideally suited to decorative, technical and heavy silver plating in both rack and barrel systems.

Best results are achieved when plating onto brass, copper or German silver.

Bright Silver Elfit® 73E

Elfit silver produces pure white, haze free silver deposits over a wide thickness range. The electrolyte has excellent bright throw and can be engineered to give good covering power.

The Elfit silver deposit has a conductivity equal to pure silver and is widely used throughout the world for RFI transmission applications.

Additive consumption is low, making the solution easy and economical to operate. Elfit silver process is suitable for both rack and barrel installations.

ARGUNA® 4500

ARGUNA® 4500 is a weakly alkaline silver bath for depositing fine silver coatings. It is used in equipment for selective high-speed silver-plating (jet-plating, spot-plating). The coatings are bright, exhibit good bondability and solderability and are mainly used for semi­conductor applications.

Applicable current density and deposition speed depend on the electrolyte agitation at the parts. Mostly spray cells (jet plating) are used where due to the high flow speed in the electrolyte jet very high current densities can be applied. The bath works with insoluble anodes. It contains silver in the form of potassium silver cyanide.

ARGUNA® CF

The ARGUNA® CF silver bath is a weakly alkaline silver bath without free cyanide when freshly made up. It is used in equipment for selective high-speed silver-plating (jet-plating).

If ARGUNA® Pre-dip 600 is used, the occurrence of immersion silver-plating common in cyanide silver baths will be strongly reduced in this bath. Therefore with partial silver-plating using masking processes, well-defined surface elements are obtained, which mostly make subsequent stripping superfluous.

The coatings are semi-bright, they exhibit good bondability and solderability and are mainly used for semi­conductor applications.

Sil-Aft CF Antitarnish

Sil-Aft CF is an electrolytic system operated anodically for the protection of silver and silver alloys against tarnishing.

Specified by a major high street retailer, Sil-Aft CF gives protection to "point of sale", even in the more extreme climates.

Sil-Aft CF can be applied to silver without affecting the electrical characteristics of the deposit.

UMICORE ANTITARNISH 614

Umicore Antitarnish 614 is a passivation process for silver. Treated silver surfaces will be protected against tarnishing caused by hydrogen sulphide.

A thin, transparent protective layer is applied by a simple immersion process. This will not have any adverse effect on the solderability and hardly any influence on the contact resistance compared to an untreated silver surface.

Depending on the application, in reel-to-reel equipment either a multilayer or a thin monolayer can be applied.

However, the friction coefficient of the surface will be clearly reduced, thus lowering insertion and withdrawal forces and the susceptibility to welding of sliding con­tacts. Therefore Umicore Antitarnish 614 is particularly suitable for sliding and plug-in contacts.

Neither colour nor brightness of the silver coatings will be influenced. Therefore the process can also be used for decorative purposes.

The easy-to-use immersion solution does not contain any components harmful to the environment, no chlorofluorohydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons, hydrocarbons or chromium compounds in particular.

UMICORE ANTITARNISH 616

Umicore Antitarnish 616 is a medium based on nano­technology for protecting silver against tarnishing. Special nanopolymers adsorb on the silver surface and cross-link to form a protective layer of a few nano­metres which is invisible due to its low layer thickness. Treated surfaces will be protected from tarnish effects for a prolonged period.

A thin protective layer is applied by a simple immersion process. It protects the basic material from oxidation and discoloration.

The coating is chemically resistant, dirt and water repellent and has a long lifetime.

The antitarnish is biologically safe, kind to the skin and hypoallergenic. Additional protection against scratches and abrasion will be produced which will not impede later treatment or repair by grinding and polishing.

The precious metal will remain recyclable and the coating does not lower the value.

Umicore Antitarnish 616 is suitable for rack and barrel applications.

UMICORE SEALING 691

Umicore Sealing 691 is a post-treatment process for precious metal surfaces. The treated surfaces will be protected against tarnishing or discoloration for a prolonged period.

A thin, transparent protective layer is applied by a simple immersion process without adverse effect on the solderability and hardly any influence on the contact resistance compared to an untreated surface.

The friction coefficient of the surface will be clearly reduced. Therefore Umicore Sealing 691 is particularly suitable for sliding and plug-in contacts but is also suitable for decorative applications as well. The easy-to-use immersion solution does not contain any components harmful to the environment, no chlorofluorohydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons, hydrocarbons or chromium compounds in particular.

Silver Anodes

Dogbone silver anodes are thickened at the high current density portions of the cross section and maintain a more consistent anode current density throughout the life of the anodes.

99.97% fine silver

Sheet anodes are available to special order.
